Aptiv Automotive is our principal sponsor for all BARC related projects. Aptiv was previously known as
Delphi, a tier 1 automotive supplier, but has emerged as a leader in autonomous driving in recent years.
After completing the first fully-autonomous coast-to- coast drive from San Francisco to New York in 2015,
Aptiv has partnered with Intel’s Mobileye and BMW to further develop their technology. More recently,
they provided an autonomous ride hailing service at CES 2018 together with Lyft.
Aptiv has challenged us to perform research in predictive driving. Our goal is to develop novel methods
for cars to predict other drivers’ actions, and proactively make decisions based on that. Aptiv has
sponsored us with an open source grant, making all our work available in the public domain.
The Berkeley Autonomous Race Car (BARC), has been developed in Professor Francesco Borrelli’s Model
Predictive Control Lab, in Berkeley’s Mechanical Engineering department. As such, we want to credit all
the contributors and grantors to the BARC project for their support.
We are a student group acting independently of the University of California. We take full responsibility for our org. and this web site.
